3-in-1 Game Circuit Board
Play Tic Tac Toe, Simon (memory game), or use it as an electronic die!

We Love Doing More With Less

One of our favourite things here at Elimo Engineering is to do a lot with a little, and since we wanted to be able to give away something a bit more interesting than a pen or a keyring at upcoming events, it was a no-brainer to design this minimalist but fun game!

But what can you do with just 9 bicolour LEDs, an MCU with 8kB of flash, and a coin cell battery, anyway? As it turns out, quite a lot! A 3×3 tri-colour game display, with three gameplay modes, and a sleep current of just 100nA, enough for over a century of theoretical shelf-life!

Play Modes

Either the Power/Mode button or the center joystick button can be used to power on the game. The currently selected game mode is indicated by the three LEDs below the joystick. The player can cycle through the three modes by pressing the Power/Mode button. The game will turn itself off automatically after 20 seconds of inactivity.

Electronic Die

The default mode is Electronic Die. In this mode, pressing the joystick centre select will ‘roll’ the die to generate a new random number. Great for playing board games with friends!

Tic Tac Toe

In this mode the player can play Tic Tac Toe against the computer. The computer will try to beat you but it is always possible to win if you play well! The player’s moves are shown in green and the computer’s in red. Move the orange cursor around the game area with the joystick and use the centre select to make your move. Then the computer will make a move, and so on, until there is a winner or a draw.

Memory Game

In this mode the computer will show moves that the player must repeat from memory. For example, if the computer lights up the top LED, the player should move the joystick upwards to copy the computer’s move. After each round the number of moves will increase so there are more moves to remember. It is possible to beat the game by remembering enough moves, but it is difficult!
